The cable is just under the floor boards and not hanging on the floor so I expect neither damp nor rodent damage. Well, the cat never tells me there are any rodents. Tonight i'm going to remove the cable from the splitter and see if the levels drop. After this i have the official splitter kit that came with the box and i will make up a short lead and run it just over the carpet to see what those levels are like. After that, i have a signal booster coming and of course, i can contact virgin. i want to be there if v comes out as i have to remove my nvidia and viark boxes and maybe my solo 4k if they are coming into the house.Looks like decent enough cable, .any chance that rodents could have chewed it,? or damp ingress.
Remember, you will be testing it with a DC meter (probably, unless you have a meter costing a couple of grand ) , the signal going down it will be an AC signal, so the problem with the cable might not show up.
This is only a guess BTW, but if removing that cable shows better readings then by default it's most likely the cable at fault.
