Everton will stay up this season. Sheffield United, Luton and Burnley are as bad as any team you'll see in the Premier League, they'll all struggle. Add Fulham who sold their best player in Mitrovic and Bournemouth who look woeful but won't sack their manager coz they believe it's a long term project, Everton will be comfortable.

Easily the best season to take a points deduction on the chin. Will probably get halved on appeal but even at 10 points down the bookies still have three teams more likely to go down.

I wouldn't wish relegation on anyone but if I did after last season, Everton would be on top of my wish list! Could give the woefulls some incentive!

It could, but at the same time it could galvanise Everton - I reckon Sean Dyche as an old school manager will rebel in the "siege mentality" situation and the fans will definitely unite and get behind the team.
 
Bit hypocritical if Leicester try anything, they paid a £3m fine in 2018 after losing £20m rather than the permitted £8m in the Championship 2013 and got promoted to the PL off the back of it.

Think if any club had a genuine gripe it's Burnley, relegated once and could go again this season, so it's only them who could get any benefit from this

Any Premier League club who complains is a hypocrite, they're all as crooked as they come. They have huge finance departments who's job it is to try to stretch every rule to the limit. Tis somewhat ironic that the first club to be hung out to dry are owned by a billionaire accountant.

And still no news on any of the other clubs who should be punished more than Everton but have more financial clout!

Not really, it was all done above board and they paid the fine, they wasn't docked points.
I find it difficult to comprehend how Everton managed to string it along for 3 seasons.
They are saying why us ?other PL clubs are still under investigation to name 2! Chelsea Man City

With the reaction within the footballing world I reckon it'll be reduced on appeal, possibly halved to 5 points. Everyone seems to agree it seems harsh compared to other punishments clubs have been given.

They always start with the small clubs to test the water, remains to be seen if they stick with the ten points. I believe they will.

No Everton breached just the 1 rule so it was not that time consuming to look into and reach an outcome. City face 115 charges which obviously will take a lot longer to investigate. We al know Mansoor funds the companies who are their sponsors so they are guilty guilty guilty FACT.
Depending on how much he stuffs inn brown envelopes for those investigating the charges decides the outcome.
Will defo get points deduction and the old asterix next to the trophy/s they won unfairly and rightly so.

And what do you base your FACTS on? Newspapers, Facebook, Twitter, forums? Nobody, bar the FA and Man City know all the details, and like any Citizen ~ They are presumed innocent, until proven guilty in a court of law, not of public opinion.

Aside from anything else, the FFP regulations were dreamt up to protect the elite at that time, not to ensure financial parity. How could you possibly compare Man utd's current balance sheet with all its debt, and owners who just keep taking money out of the club, with Citys profitable company who are building all around them, providing jobs, regenerating East Manchester, with zero debt.


Why shouldn't an owner come in and spend his whole fortune if he wishes on his club?
Amongst others, Jack Walker did it with Blackburn, Abramovich did it with Chelsea, why not Mansoor at city, if he chooses?

Agreed most other clubs/supporters don't like it when wealthy business men come in and spend there billions on there business they own it they can invest in it.
Roman abromovich started the trend when he changed English football all those years ago and just carried on since.
People are always going to look at city and Chelsea as the biggest ffp regulation breakers as we [chelsea] with Bholey found a way to match it this season which others took note of and complained (typical)
The last I read is that we could face a hefty fine and points deducted just like the toffees and be in a relegation battle.
I can't remember which team it was think Westham didn't they start a season with a points reduction and still manage to stay up the same season

I was thinking this reading the thread. He pretty much single handedly kept them up that season!

Football has well and truly disappeared up it's own arse! We will never see another Jack Walker buying a Premier League club. It's Corporations (that want a return on investment) or Middle East Countries (looking to sportswash their public image) that are the only people that can afford to buy Premier League clubs these days. It's sad to see. We live in a society where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Football used to be the working man's escape on a Saturday and it was about the passion of supporting your local team, win/lose or draw. It's just a business now and I feel the soul of the game has been lost along the way. Kids grow up now wanting to be footballers, not for the love of the game, but for the financial rewards!
 
Everton Club Statement

Everton can confirm an Appeal Board has concluded that the points deduction imposed by an independent Premier League Commission in November be reduced from 10 points to six points, with immediate effect.
While the Club is still digesting the Appeal Board’s decision, we are satisfied our appeal has resulted in a reduction in the points sanction.
We understand the Appeal Board considered the 10-point deduction originally imposed to be inappropriate when assessed against the available benchmarks of which the Club made the Commission aware, including the position under the relevant EFL regulations, and the 9-point deduction that is imposed under the Premier League’s own rules in the event of insolvency.
The Club is also particularly pleased with the Appeal Board’s decision to overturn the original Commission’s finding that the Club failed to act in utmost good faith. That decision, along with reducing the points deduction, was an incredibly important point of principle for the Club on appeal. The Club, therefore, feels vindicated in pursuing its appeal.
Notwithstanding the Appeal Board’s decision, and the positive outcome, the Club remains fully committed to cooperating with the Premier League in respect of the ongoing proceedings brought for the accounting period ending in June 2023.
The Club is still considering the wider implications of the decision and will make no further comment at this time other than to place on record its thanks to our Fan Advisory Board and other fan groups throughout this process, and to all Evertonians for their ongoing support and patience.
