doorbell camera no subscription.

I have the blink , batteries have been in about 8 months . I have it connected to my Alexa’s so they announce when the door bell has been pressed. , I also have an Echo show - this will show the door bell camera if you ask it to though maybe quicker to walk to the door. I don’t use the talking thru the camera , I just use it like I did my Friedland but kids like to get the notifications etc. I don’t pay a subscription I just put a usb mem stick in the sync box …not that I ever check that either ….its just a doorbell to me . You can add other cameras to it …which is where I used it most as had a rat in the loft .
I cancelled the free 30 day sub trial because i thought i could use the sync module via usb stick to view clips, and save paying, i tried and tried and the USB Shows in the app as "usb connected" but no video or motion clips on local storage, my "storage used" sits a 1% and never go's up, it's only a 32gb usb (plenty) and not over 256gb which is max size recommended, i have the usb formatted to exfat (as per instructions) all to no avail.
I then felt forced into a "basic plan" which i took, losing the free 30 day sub trial indefinitely costing me £24.99 for the year,
The cloud storage (now subscribed) works ok and i can view what i need to, but i want to save to local storage via usb the clip list in local storage shows -
"No Recent Activity" (see attached) and have read many many others with this issue to which they too can't resolve and save clips to local storage, would anyone have any idea's at all please?
Some say you can't save to local with a subscription and some say you can save to both?
I have even deleted the sync module and reset it back up all to no avail
I'm lost and would appreciate some info or support, if anyone can help it'd be really appreciated (y)

Hey I know this is a little late, but just wanted to recommend ReoLink. It is awesome - especially if you use something like home assistant to bridge it to HomeKit. Video feed pops up on my Apple TV when someone rings the doorbell so when I’m watching tv loud I still am alerted. It also recognizes people in the family and alerts me if it’s them or a stranger

Did you sort this ? , i don’t think mine stored to the mem stick till after the free 30 day trial . I am pretty sure my usb is fat32.

Hi Scufferoo
I checked the memory stick and it saves clips to one of two folders which you can view on a PC, I think while you have a subscription that is the only way you can view the usb clips, I would have thought if your out of subscription, you can select 'local storage' and view the clips from the app, but that wasn't the case for me at set up stage - because of this is felt my hand was forced to take a subscription as I couldn't view any files before I subscribed.

Hi, I'm thinking of a video door bell too, how are you getting on with the ReoLink? Can it record to SD card? Is there a monthly subscription, I'd perfer not. What model did you go for?

thanks.

For anyone who cannot record Blink clips to usb storage, are you using a Virgin hub in modem mode with your own router? It drove me mad until I found out the cause. I use the Virgin hub in normal mode now and the Blink recordings work flawlessly. Just a thought if it helps someone.

Does normal mode turn the WiFi off for the 3.0 Hub? If it does I'll have to leave it as it is, there's quite a few devices connected to it via WiFi in the household and that would cause mayhem.

We love it! There is no mandatory subscription if you store locally (microSD) if you want the cloud service there’s a cheap monthly fee. It is awesome and I definitely recommend it.
