Not sure if madness setting in but when dozing i think i hear my doorbell ? By the time i struggle to get to the door no one there.

Considering one that i can use with my phone but unsure how they get setup and powered .

Some say by usb cable and that means removing to charge it.

Are they screwed to wood or wall or bonded on.

Still got my Friedland push button door bell.

Limited funds to spend so thought i would ask the experts.

I have a Ring door bell you can screw or use the sticky pad it comes with but preferred screwing to frame of door so it don't disappear...also didn't want to keep recharging or changing batteries so got one you can connect to mains so cable through frame to a socket near to door.

Works great. Don't pay to save footage but if anyone rings phone pings and can talk to whoever is there via phone or alexa oh and they are connected to wifi so need a signal that gets to door.

Yes i have a transformer in under the stairs and might hope is just replace push button outside with new camera one.

Can't the one you already use be connected to the phone?
If anyone rang the bell and didn't bother to wait, or leave a parcel with a neighbour, etc, and post a card through, isn't worth getting out of your chair for.
I'd have to say bollocks to them all, you're old, like me, you can't be the first old person they've encountered, it's not up to you to change your lifestyle or setup to suit them, it's up to them to cater to your needs.
If they take a parcel away, feckem, they'll have to make another expensive journey to bring it back or they have a final option, stick it up their crapper and you get a refund and they don't get paid for their failed deliveries.

If its people you know, friends or relatives etc they should/will already be aware that it will take a little time to get to the door

The odd time i missed the Postman it was a registered letter and missed him , luckily i got dressed and got into car and drove around the big block and found him and he was delighted to get rid of it as would have made a special journey to leave it elsewhere.
No , old system for Friedland push button doorbell and transformer in use.
Yes many are in a hurry to get to next house and have new neighbours on both sides and on one side not moved in and House alarm going off and no contact to alert.
Luckily deliveries can be dropped into the basket in the porch.
Yes next door neighbour did wait for me and knew i was slow.

Right ordered the Blink and should have it in a few days. Cheers.

On another note i have an old mobile ,Bluetooth and wifi .

Can i use this without a paid sim to connect to phone or has to be my main payed up one ?

My current Redmi sucks for trying to answer phone and is slow and was curious

Would imagine it will work indoors on the same WiFi, but not much point. But if you leave the house you will need data on your phone, or connection to a differant WiFi.... Paul

Not worried on leaving house as it was trying to get up to answer the door and might have been a false alarm is why i am looking into it and if someone there could pop up on that phone if other one was busy.

Having another moment of madness with old brain , is there another option like a bigger screen to view and chat on the older phone has a smaller screen and would need a new battery fitted.
With all this new tech I do not know so asking again. Cheers

If you have smart tv on the same WiFi you may be able to view it there app or on a browser. I can view my camera on TV, via firestick useing Silk browser... Paul

I have the blink , batteries have been in about 8 months . I have it connected to my Alexa’s so they announce when the door bell has been pressed. , I also have an Echo show - this will show the door bell camera if you ask it to though maybe quicker to walk to the door. I don’t use the talking thru the camera , I just use it like I did my Friedland but kids like to get the notifications etc. I don’t pay a subscription I just put a usb mem stick in the sync box …not that I ever check that either ….its just a doorbell to me . You can add other cameras to it …which is where I used it most as had a rat in the loft .
