Ditching Sky...need advice

So what you need for good setup.

1 decent box
Sheild
Formuler
Probably 2 favourites

2. A good supplier no box will save you from bad one. Ideally with some catch up. Quite a few will have replays aswell when footie starts.

3. If you are into VOD iptv providers have varying results as mentioned a app with Rd or premulize is ideal some suppliers have them and you will get it for around half price.

Further update after a lot of research

I now have:

Shield Pro
Tivimate
Stremio with RD
SurfShark
BT Youview Box
500mb BB

So think I have most bases covered still looking for a good supplier (tried some which are okish but not all what I want) possibly getting one...but ideally want a second back up with all the bells a whistles

If you’re wanting a cheap backup, the Chinese websites have a few. You can test aswell

That didn’t take you long.
Having a backup is ideal just in case something goes south.
Where did you purchase your BT box from?

Decent price and they are easy to setup and use.
It will keep your other half happy for recording her soaps and it also has all the catchup apps and some subscription ones also but I doubt you will be using them now.

I remember cancelling Sky about 13 years ago and the representative was so pushy and asked me loads of questions.
He even asked me if I was terminally ill which really pissed me off.
It won’t be perfect but it will be much cheaper.

not expecting a Sky clone but will be saving the price of 2 subs a month so well happy at the initial outlay...short term pain for long term gain...

I had same issue when I cancelled Sky for parents...was asked if there was a terminal illness causing the disconnection...to which I replied "well if you call death terminal....." it went silent and then then next thing was cancelled with immediate effect thanks for using Sky and hung up!!

do you need to use a vpn when using syncler
No I never have with RD.
@mikeyeah posted this which I didn’t know about the port used.
RD, uses https port 443 to stream the content directly to your device, therefore you do not need a VPN as https traffic is encrpyted as standard. This is better as VPN will reduce your speed and increase your latancy and in turn sometimes affect the playback of your stream.

I always thought with rd that you are actually downloading from their servers and that was reason you did not need vpn
https maybe encrypted but that is like saying any iptv provider who had https you do not need vpn for or am I wrong ?

No you are just accessing the cached torrent from their servers when you request and stream it.
All the data physically stays on their servers.
Similar to using any streaming service but you are not accessing torrents.
The only time you will have the data is if you physically download it to your device yourself and store it.
Which is quick and you can do it if you want.
Not sure how all iptv servers operate.
If they use https default port 443 all the data is encrypted.
