The tube version of the shield is dire, pointless.. however the pro with a custom launcher such as projectivity launcher combined with tivimate premium, stremio, Plex and hyperspin makes it unbeatable even after 5 years.

I've had one, it was rubbish, sent it back and purchased the pro and the difference was night and day.
i had one which nvidia relaced three years out of warranty for a fault but also bought four for famaily members, none of them having a problem of any description-i also have one in my bedroom which has never had a problem?
They have the same cpu but the Tube has 2gb RAM 8gb storage and no USB ports.
The ram and storage makes every bit of difference between the two, plus the AI upscaling which makes poor sense content looks superb. Works great on IPTV channels.
The tube has upscaling but any decent modern tv has as good or better upscaling than the shield offers nowadays.
I have an LG G series and It still is beneficial.
I have a Panasonic OLED and the upscale feature is still very noticeable

You would be better off buying a device actually for iptv like a Formuler device like the Z11 pro max.
Z11 doesn’t support Dolby vision, uhd on Netflix etc.
You said you just wanted it for iptv and that’s why I suggested the formuler device.
The 4k max is more than enough for IPTV in fact with tivi it is the best bang for buck device you can buy.
The shield also doesn’t support HDR(HLG)
