Anyone Starting To Have Issues With Sky?

How did the results compare with VPN running and did you use my speed test link?
Do all channels stutter at peak times or certain channels?

19.0/7.96/97.3
26.1/3.82/97.1

I would stop using the free proton vpn because your latency has shot up, which is not good at that reading.
What are the Express VPN results.
That time and content will be when your providers server is being hammered the most and any provider for that matter.

They are better but if you can access without a VPN that will give you the best latency.
But using it masks what your ISP see’s you connecting to so they may not throttle your connection.
Not used Sly personally and you don’t have many replies from users on here.
It’s in their interest to throttle connections at certain times knowing that people will be accessing IPTV streams of their legal services lol.
You mentioned your son has no issue but he is using fibre and will have better speeds.
You can either try a faster package with sly of try BT.
Not sure what else to suggest.

Thanks for your help and advice

A few years back Sky were throttling my speeds at peak times, iptv used to buffer and when I ran a speed test that did three tests in quick succession it showed my speeds were up and down massively. So I changed isp and from that point always ran every illegal streaming app through a vpn and never had any issues since.

Maybe worth trying another vpn, express vpn does have obfuscated servers which are supposed to hide vpn usage from your isp.

You should looking at fibre to the home these days.

Otherwise your speeds will move up and down during the day.

Normal times of high traffic after 6pm and Weekends.

Don't have fibre to the home where I live, I've read somewhere we should have it before the end of 2025
Best thing is get the fastest you can and use a vpn that will steady the ship normally.

You have to watch who else is online aswell with such low speeds.

Specially if you have a family 35 meg not much these days and I doubt you will ever get full 35 meg. As thete will be a drop from your cabinet to your home

You don’t need high speed to stream iptv because it doesn’t use much bandwidth.
I have used 150mb fibre without issue and streamed 100gb movies files on Real dedrid without issue.
I’m on 250mb and it’s plenty but we don’t have any gamers in the household.

I doubt you could stream your 100gig movie off 35 meg connection no iptv itself dosent take much.

Although 4k and 50fps can be a bit more demanding

I wouldn’t tried to stream a 100gb file using 35mb connection probably using phone lines.
I was just pointing out that you don’t need high speed connection for iptv and you don’t need really need high speeds for streaming large files either.

Also as mentioned, try using different channels at the peak time! E. G. During a Sunday F1 race, try the SD version of F1 channel. See if works! If does, shows more likely bandwidth or throttling. If still not working, then something else at fault!

Made the change to BT and all the issues have instantly gone away, that tells me the connection to my house is fine, it's either skys service or skys router, nothing else has changed!

If you are stuck into a long term contract then what are the simple steps an IPTV user to avoid THROTTLING.

One is using VPN
Second is changing DNS

Please advise if anything else need to do to have continuous streaming

Expert advice will help the people they are not very techk guy

I've had a google search but to be honest it all goes over my head in regards to changing the DNS

Currently with One stream, fibre to the property on 115 MB package (get just over 100 normally), however have another 18 months left with them, and to upgrade my speed when I have spoken to them would be an extra £13 a month just to go to their 220 package

I have noticed last few weeks my IPTV has started to glitch at peak times, turn the VPN on (Cyberghost Netherlands) and it sorts it out, however the 4K UHD streams I still struggle which I put down to the effect of the VPN on my speed

Would changing the DNS potentially help with this issue or would only a speed increase be the road to go down?

Thanks

I have Sky broadband, I don't have problems with blocking, but do have problems using Smart DNS .
Sky seem to change there IP very regular, mine has been going off at half time when the picture goes from live and has become a pain in the arse resetting it.
I will change my provider in April!
