Guide A guide to the best boxes for IPTV 2021

Can someone please recommend a good box for IPTV which can easily play movies (various codec) from external HDD using usb. Thanks

What sort of things will you be playing and in what format?

I.e. if Dolby Vision is not important, the Formuler Z11 Pro Max is the best IPTV box IMO - very slick, nice remote etc.

If you do want Dolby Vision though, no good as it doesn't support it.

If you want Dolby Vision, then it becomes even more complex....what will you be playing? Remux Profile 7? Only downloaded re-encodes...etc etc..?

I will mostly play movie downloaded from torrent. Many times various players either don't support audio or video.
Dolby vision is not on my list to have. Thanks

If you do not need DV, you will be ok with the Formuler Z11 Pro Max, amazing box for iptv and will play your movies and audio fine.

If you are after a player I know a few people who swear by Vimu player and they say it plays every codec they have tried on it.
It can convert Dolby profile 7 also as no android device can actually play DV profile 7.
But as you say DV is not important to you.
It is paid for app unfortunately.

Ugoos AM6B Plus will play DV P7 including FEL.

I knew that the CoreELEC devs had achieved it at the beginning of the year but it’s something I don’t use tbh.
But great for somebody that has them type of remux rips.
Kodi 21.0 and Vimu player will convert them on the fly on any decent device.
I do own a Ugoos device and am happy with it

I bought Vimu from the playstore and tested it.
It plays everything I tried on it but this will also be dependent on what codec’s your hardware supports.
It converted Dolby Vision profile 7 remux files on the fly.
It also played Dolby True-HD 7.1 files and many other sound codecs.
It will also play files on your network from other devices.

The conversion on the fly is handy isn’t it. Kodi had this in its main branch now I believe for compatible hardware!

Still can’t believe we haven’t got ‘the box’ yet!

Yes it’s handy as I don’t have to find DV files that are not DV profile 7. Also
I like high quality rips but I can live without the FEL layer for now on Android os.
A device would need a secondary video decoder and also be able to produce lossless audio as well.
There are media players out there but not running on Android.

Firestick 4K is going to be a thing of the past soon. Amazon is removing side-loaded apps randomly. I've had quite a few people I know have this happen more than once.

Hi, I currently use a MAG 250 and have been using for a number of years. Just use it for IPTV sub only. Looking to upgrade it. Any good recommendations for a box for iptv? Do need one that has a MAC address for my iptv seller to set it up. Not sure if any of them have a recording option to prerecord programs or access it from my phone as well without having another subscription bought? Also, use ethernet for it since the wifi is trash on the box but I have .5 gig speed so would prefer to just use wifi if possible. Would appreciate recommendations or tips on what to use. Thank you.

I personally don’t use one but have seen quite a few recommend the Formuler Z11 pro.
Also Buzz Tv boxes also get decent reviews.

I personally don’t record iptv but is possible but can be hit and miss and you will need more than one connection.

You would be able to access your sub from a phone using one connection as long as the connection wasn’t being accessed from your other device.
An Android phone would be easier than IOS as there are many more apps to choose from and if your supplier stipulates that you use their app they may not have an IOS app.

I also prefer to use Ethernet as WiFi can get interference from external sources.

Ive the Buzz 4500 getting a bit long in the tooth spec wise but it does the job well with MyTV app or custom apps.

What make it stand out for me is the remote control and the number of function available on it.

Highly recommend the Buzz range.
