2025 is here and no new shield on the horizon.... what do you recommend for my needs below?

The Sheild with Implayer and Tivimate is good, but for end user viewing experience the Z11 beats it. The fully featured remote is a godsend.
Like I said if the Z11 had Dolby Vision.... I'd be all over it in a heartbeat... I doubt they ever will though because of licensing... but man, it'd be a super solid box. I keep hoping that the Z12 or whatever is next someday will have it. It'd make for the perfect box for me

I thought from what you said in earlier posts you wanted a certified device for official app support.

Yeah I should clarify.... Sorry. Ideally a box would be certified. But to be honest... the most important things for me are full audio passthrough, the ability to play DV and Atmos through my local Emby server on the device as well as solid for IPTV. Certified is nice because I just feel like they get more regular updates and work a little better (maybe that's just a mental thing though). No matter how much stuff I throw on my Emby server... the one app my wife still uses is Netflix lol. So certified for that does help me... but the reality is if it does the other things perfectly... we can sacrifice. I have messed around with boxes with Coreelec for local playback. Which is pretty awesome.... just then either need to switch for IPTV or have a second device which IMO defeats the purpose of having one "amazing" device.

Hope that clears up what I'm actually looking for/want lol.

Not to mention... I feel like in order to get Dolby licensing, it would end up being a certified device. Could be wrong there though.

Yeah a certified device is going to limit your choices but you don’t need a certified device to have Dolby vision support.

Sheild is probably best still bought a formuler z11 and regretted it really.

I don't think nividia are intested in building a new one more interested selling chips and graphics cards

But no device has caught up with it really

They made a powerful GeForce now gaming and streaming devices that was certified.
The only thing it has over the devices you can buy today is that it is certified and can run official certified streaming apps.
Will they make another, I am not sure but I would think it would be around £300-£400 mark.
Do you need a certified gaming device for streaming nowadays?
I personally don’t but some might.
What have are your regrets with Z11?

I do like certified apps
Z11 not quite as nippy as sheild
I am missing sheild control (less fussy)
Seems to just crash now and again for no reason

You don't need expensive device for iptv kodi or netflix...
I'm using mecool and it has everything I need like
- Wifi 6
- Android TV with Netflix
- Support Dolby vison, 4k , HDR.
...

I suppose because I'm a relative noob and the formuler z11 pro max is my first serious iptv box, I am pretty elated with it.

It's a bit like with TV's - the more you know, the more problems you see. I am just happy to have a big screen and a solid iptv box :)

Can't blame them really. Makes sense them for to keep away from the IPTV space. And they are obviously making obscene profits in the chips and GPU space

I don’t think they are interested in the illegal iptv scene lol.
I just don’t think there is a market for a £300+ android gaming device but you never know.

I agree I wouldn't pay £300 and I would just pay extra for ps5 or Xbox for gaming.

My son uses pc for gaming all singing nivida graphics cards etc that works out a expensive option aswell

Yep me thinks you're right there. I'm quite content with how things are now anyway ... more fun watching stuff with brazilian commentators on my android box made by a company i've never heard of
