Amazon Firecube - IPTV stream freezes when cutting to an advert

Hello all - on the off chance anyone has experienced the same issue, I have 2 IPTV providers, both are which are fine and I have no issues with, however the issue is when a stream cuts to an advert the stream stops, it doesn't buffer it just stops.

I will switch to another channel, and it will play a frame, then stop again frozen with that image on screen, the only way I have been able to get it going again is to restart the firecube, so for example Saturday I had the boxing on TNT, end of a round cuts to an advert, stream freezes. If I then switch from the main IPTV provider I use to my backup one, the streams again will be frozen or play a frame then stop - the only way I am able to get things moving again is to restart

I subscribe to Now TV, and this is not an issue when I use Sky sports via that, or if I use streamio for films and TV programmes

I have even sent the firecube back, and got a replacement, same issue again - I've tried numerous picture settings turning different options off and on but the problem remains, doesn't happen every time but once it stops that's it.

Has anybody else had this issue?

Thanks

What iptv apps have tried with your providers?
Does force closing the app and clearing cache help?
Also have you turned router off for a few minutes and rebooted?
Have you tried your providers on a mobile device on another network or same network to see if you have the same issue?

Have you tried a different provider to see if that helps? Also ask your provider to send a different app to try out.

The force close and cache doesn't help , I also rebooted the router Saturday afternoon before watching one of the 3pms - my provider I can use on my phone without issue, but I cant use via a mobile network due to Vodafone being very limited signal wise in the house

However I have not tried another app with it so will go down that route - appreciate your reply, thanks

I will try another of his apps to rule that out, my second provider (used purely as a backup) but I have had for years has always been fine for me, however the odd thing is when this issue happens, and I login to my backup providers app the streams are frozen or play 1 second then freeze up, if I restart the firecube both providers then work as they did before. This issue never happens when using my backup provider, only when I use the main provider, and carries on when logging into the backup provider

This also never happened when using the same provider with an Nvidia Shield previously so can only thing its a setting on the cube that isn't correct

Possibly try using external player within the app... So, if app uses exo player, try using vlc, and see if that stops the issue occurring?

Is out EVERY time there's adverts, or just sometimes?

Do you have both providers playlist within the same app?
Not sure what app you are using or if you have the option to choose Output format MPEG or HLS.
Also as mentioned try using an external player.
But it sounds like a codec, setting or player issue related to the app you are using with your main provider because you said no issue on your mobile device.

Is the cube on wifi, if so try with ethernet

Does this only happen when you’re using both subs at the same time?

Seen a similar ad freeze (with a provider) on E2 devices in the past but in those cases a simple up down channel flick fixed the freeze.

I don't no, they are both separate providers with seperate apps, never once happened on my Nvidia Shield I had previously either, another poster asked about Wifi/Ethernet, my firecube is ethernet connected

I'm hoping its just the player, although I keep thinking it must be a setting on the actual firecube for it to then freeze on my backup provider also

Check if there is a pending update also make sure the router safe settings are disabled.

You said it doesn’t happen on the backup provider if you use that first.
So something from the app you are using with your main provider is causing the issue with your Cube.
I would imagine you have uninstalled the main suppliers app and reinstalled.
Ask your supplier if you can try a different app to see if the issue persists.

Are both off your subs from the same supplier or different supplier?

If you think it’s some app settings causing it try uninstalling and reinstalling the Iptv app that way everything in the app settings will go to default and login again and see what happens.

First of all thanks to all your replies its really appreciated.

Last night I watched the Celtic game on a TNT Ultimate stream, all fine, odd glitch but nothing of note, then half time comes and as soon as it broke to the adverts the same issue again, however last night I tried the providers other app, so this has happened on a second app

I thought (as I have my TV connected via a Yamaha AVR) it maybe the amp, so connected the cube direct to my TV, next set of adverts same issue again so at least it is something on the Amazon firecube

Think my next approach is to get tivimate which I see recommended on here and hopefully that will cure the issue which I hope @Aristotle will be an end to this

@moshibeth my provider is onestream, which are I think basically resellers of Vodafone broadband, I use my own router (TP Link AC2100) I don't think there are any settings online I need to disable? I've started using my VPN recently as I think they are throttling me at peak times, very rarely get buffering

@Fox789 Originally as I've not long had the firecube I returned it thinking it must be a faulty firecube, but does the exact same issue with the replacement, and my subs are off separate suppliers

Most frustrating thing is the providers app is really good, I like it and previously I had a Nvidia Shield and not once did this issue happen, only got rid of it as she shield didn't support UHD streams on the Now tv app.

I have tried providers apps in the past and not encountered the issue you mentioned.
But not sure if I have tried the same apps you have available and I don’t use Amazon devices either.
I do have Tivimate and iMPlayer and they are both great apps.
I personally prefer Tivimate out of the two.
I haven’t seen users mention that Tivimate doesn’t work well on Amazon device’s so you shouldn’t have a problem.
Are the providers apps clones of other apps?
If so what are they?

That will be down to the fact that the Shield doesn’t support HLG format which NowTV use.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere something about an incompatability with firecube and certain stream formats... Could it be that when it changes to adverts, format kicks it, which causes this issue?!
