XC pre buffer settings

Good afternoon everyone, hope some one can give me a better understanding of this setting inside XCIPTV player. I see there is this setting pre buffer 300m sec -1 sec-2 sec- 3sec- 5 sec. Which would you guys recommend and if some one willing to explain to me how that part of that works. And there is setting there hardware decoder is it wise to keep that on?

The buffer stores a set amount of time in advance of the stream content before playing it.

That is all it is it wont help if you provider is have buffer issues

5 sec is advised but like mentioned will make no difference to problem server.
