Hello

Please let me know if anyone can help for advise. I am using a VPN watch some content from outside the UK. When I try to stream video I get a screen showing and error message with the code 271403. After a short search online I found this can relate to geo locked content. Does this mean my VPN is not working? Should I clear the cache on the app and this will fix it. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions about this? I am not tied to my VPN provider as I pay monthly and can cancel at anytime.

It looks like your VPN might not be working properly to bypass the geo-restrictions. You can try a few things:

  1. Switch to a different server in the same region (like another UK server).
  2. Clear the app’s cache, as it might still be storing your original location.
  3. Check if your VPN is masking your IP correctly using a site like ipleak.net.
  4. If it still doesn’t work, you could try a different VPN provider that’s better at unblocking geo-locked content.
Let me know if you need more help!

Could also mean that the VPN’s ip addresses are black listed from the service you are trying to access because some services use VPN detection software.
You could ask on here and see what service it is and what VPN you are using it with to see if any other users have similar issues.

Use a paid VPN not a free version
I do pay Proton about 11 Euros each month. I decided to stop using more mainstream service like Express VPN & Nord because I thought their ability to access geo locked content was becoming patchy or non existent. This fits with the idea that the IPs had been blacklisted as they are more widely used. If anyone has an alternative to these then please let me know.

I cancelled my subscription with Proton. Next time I need a VPN, I am going to sign up for some free trials with the popular ones like Express or Surfshark to see what works best.

Testing free trials is the way to go. Both Express and Surfshark are solid options
