VM settings for IPTV?

Hi

I was wondering if there any settings/tweaks any of you do to not allow blocks when watching TV especially the footy which is due again soon.

As suggested from a provider to turn Web safe settings off for VM and remember reading about turning firewall settings etc off but not too sure about. I have had some issues where in uhd the channel would buffer but I have a 1gb line setup to a nvidia shield and used a vpn at times (Nord). I want to get away from the buffering and just enjoy watching the game, any suggestions please?

The provider did say he is not having any issues when I did raise it on their end but I have a setup well capable of running it.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thank you

Don't watch UHD, try HD or SD if its playing up.
UHD requires a very strong connection permanently, if it dips even momentarily it will buffer.
Using a VPN will cut down your connection speed too.
I use VM 100 mb and never had a problem with normal HD/SD channels but I've never used a VPN

VPN won’t help really it’s your isp doing it at peak times when live games are on and isp can see what your watching and they can slow your internet speed down to cause buffering another one if you got lots of devices in the house connected onto your router try turning their Wi-Fi connection off the devices you are or someone else is not using it might make a difference in the speed, and if that doesn’t help try downloading VLC app on your device and then go into the iptv app settings and it’s called player something and turn on the live tv option from there and see if that helps.

  • Treat UHD channels as a luxury. If it works and you get a great signal, fantastic. If it doesn't then use the HD channels as others have suggested. If UHD is really important to you then consider ditching IPTV and pay for the real deal through Sky.
My Experience based on my Provider (Your mileage may vary)
  • I'm on VM and I notice there is often IP Blocks when live football matches are on Sky. This seems to affect the HD and SD channels only. Turning on VPN solves this. My UHD Channels do not get blocked by VM when the football is on. If I turn on a VPN and try and access UHD Channels, they will not work at all.

Do you have your device connected by Ethernet?
I find channels are more stable using Ethernet rather than WiFi.
Zero interference compared to WiFi.
Also not a big difference in bandwidth between UHD and FHD channels so that shouldn’t be an issue on your connection speed.
I use VM and do get intermittent blocks when EPL is on.
VPN fixes the issues.

Also you have a shield which doesn’t support HDR HLG so
most of your UHD channels will play in SDR the same as the FHD channels.
The only gain you have from most of the UHD channels is 2160p resolution compared to 1080p resolution on the FHD channels.
Just compare them and see how much of a difference you notice.
The main reason I watch some of the UHD channels is for the HDR HLG colour format as it looks better than the SDR channels.

I am with VM. The provider is correct, disable web safe, any parental controls and firewall.

The best thing I have done is switch their crap device into modem only mode and install your own router. I am using an Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro, fantastic device and well worth the money. If you need WiFi then I suggest purchasing one of their AP's which will give you a much more stable WiFi connection. I noticed that my Internet speed was more stable and increased by doing all of this.
