V8S Openbox Streaming

Hi
I am thinking about buying a V8S Openbox- I would like to use it without a TV- Can I run a network cable from the LAN port to a Router, then use an Ipad to set the Openbox up and watch the channels. I have the satellite dish already- Can anyone tell me if this would work in the way I would like please?
