V8 Golden and SkyQ

Hi Guys

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is the V8 Golden compatible with a SkyQ dish?

I was trying to install a box in my friends house yesterday but kept coming up with 60% signal strength and 0% signal quality. Tried Sky 28.2, Astra 1C, Thor and a few others with same result.

My friend used to have services from VM but has cancelled now. Assuming the VM signal is still live, would that still work or do you need to be paying for TV or broadband with them?

Any advice appreciated as always.

Hi you need a hybrid l.n.b which has the ability to switch between both boxes you can purchase on eBay 25£ that's why your having signal issues

No it's not. I believe you would need a hybrid LNB

Thanks Guys. I thought that might be the case. Would rather avoid that if I could as it was me who suggested the box and I feel bad that my friend will be more out of pocket if she wants to use it. Think I might go down the VM route. I don't want to waste a trip if it ain't gonna work though so if any of you good folks know if you need a live service from VM or just a feed coming in (contract cancelled), I'd appreciate it.

You'd have to check by trying a VM box. I'm not aware of any other way to check

Will have a go next weekend. V8 golden has VM capability so will try it and see what happens

It's going to cost more anyway as a cable line is more expensive than a Sly line.
