Tuner question

My question is regarding the tuners on my Vu+ ultimo 4k , it's fitted with 1 twin satellite DVB-S/S2/S2X FBC tuners, and 1 twin satellite DVB-S/S2Tuner, i have my unicable lnb fitted to 1 of the FBC tuners, and my motorised connected to 1 of the non FBC tuners, i'm thinking of getting a new box so i wanted to know if i need the same setup of tuners or can i just get the Twin FBC tuners, i only have 1 cable connected from the unicable, can you use the other FBC tuner connection to the motorised? i hope i have explained it right.

I think yes You can indeed use Twin FBC tuners in a new receiver to handle your unicable system, and you could potentially manage your motorized dish setup with the appropriate configuration or additional equipment. Make sure the new receiver supports all the necessary functions and connections for your existing setup

Thanks for your answer, i think it could work fine, i just didn't want to pay for extra tuners when i don't need it.

FBC tuners with unicable LNB's dont really work as you would except them to on a motorised setup, there is workarounds under advanced LNB setting but its clunky.

The FBC tuner will work fine as a motorised sat tuner just better with a Universal LNB.

Thanks for that, so basically i'm probably best to get the extra DVB-S/S2Tuner, would just a single be ok? i don't use one of the twin tuners now.

Are you going to be trying to run 2 receivers on the same motorised dish ?

What is the FBC tuner in your Ultimo going to be connected to ?

No i won't be using both boxes for the motorised, i will more than likely be selling the ultimo, don't like to keep them too long, i use 2 receivers now on the motorised, the Viark4k i use sometimes.
I'm getting a gigablue to replace the ultimo.

So explain what Box 1 and Box 2 are going to be connected to dish and LNB wise.

I will only be using the new box as my main viewing, unicable connected to the FBC tuner, and motorised connected to the DVB-S/S2Tuner, as i have now, i have split the motorised signal for when i use the viark.

So the Gigablue your getting if its the UE/Quad can work just as you have now with FBC tuner and DVBS tuner in the slot.

That's the plan anyway, retired now so plenty of time for my hobbies, this game or motorbikes. do you think the gigablue is a good choice?

More or less exactly as i have my UE setup.

TBH the Gigablue UE/Quad is a bargain although in your position id be keeping the Ultimo.

I chose the UE as a budget alternative to the Ultimo as i felt the Ultimo was overpriced in comparison but id of preferred to Ultimo.

You can use a universal LNB (on a motorised dish) and a seperate unicable LNB on one FBC tuner module. So for example, have a motorised dish to top F-plug socket. And have another 28.2 dish with unicable to bottom f-plug socket. You can then configure 7 tuners for 28.2 and leave one for the motorised.

The same applies to diseqc switches.

Unicable LNBs are not designed for motorised dishes. They are designed for dishes pointing to one satellite and shared across several devices.

I did get the Gigablue UHD UE 4k with the FBC tuners, had it a few weeks now, all setup the same as the Ultimo, seems a good box, also as Ferret sugested I'm using the TeamBlue image, which is fast and clean, all in all very pleased with my setup.

As i like them, some images are like an amazon firestick full of unnecessary bloat dragging them down.

I prefer to be the one adding the bloat to my specific needs.

Glad you approve (y)
