Sky Q and HDMI splitting

A friend of mine has a skyq, they want to watch the same feed in another room, without paying sky more cash.
At my home I'm able to split the output of my Vu+ box, using a hdmi splitter and wireless hdmi transmitter, I tried doing the same with the skyq box, but the hdmi splitter doesn't show a signal, is there a certain type of splitter that I need for a skyq box?

I don’t know, it’s just a cheap splitter off of Amazon.
