Signal Strength Question

Hi all, can you tell me if this is the norm with a dish antenna. I have a 100% signal on some frequency's but down to 70%
on others, the dish is 80cm with a clear unobstructed view. I know that the dish has more gain the nearer it comes to the
resonant frequency but is 30% normal or is it re-alignment time, also the gain jumps about from 70% to 83% on some channels.
If it is re-alignment time what is frequency or channel should this be done on.

TIA

Depends on the satellite being transmitted from (Astra 2a) also frequency of the channel and polarisation, the signal strength output can also affect signal strength, weather is a big factor too. Even leaves on trees can lower signal quality. Hope this helps. Only advice I can offer is move your dish as high as possible.

Yea on the freeview channels 100% I have but on some channels I drop down to 90 odd

i heard euro news I think the channel is its no a neighbor satellite and is meant to have low signal. So it's meant to be a good channel to test on signal strength

Thanks for the advise guys, i will have a look at the euronews channel and see whats the signal is like before the ladders come out.
