Satellite cable interference

Hi everyone,

I have been having some problems with my tv reception lately. I wondered if anyone here would be able to explain why this happens and perhaps offer a quick fix.

I have a satellite cable that running from a sky dish screwed into the back of my tv (LG NANO816NA) providing channels through freesat.

I have noticed that when watching certain channels the picture often becomes distorted when I am using my phone (iPhone 14 Pro), bizarrely this only happens with my phone and only channels such as Channel 4, E4, More 4 etc.

I assume this so probably due to a cheap cable, but it would be a pain to replace as my tv is wall mounted with the cable running internally through and around to the outlet in an ‘S’ shape. (Set up created by previous home owners 🙄)

Any reasons for this? And does anyone have a simple solution, ideally that does not involve replacing the cable.

Cheers!

Your best option is what you don't want to hear, replace the cable with some good quality stuff.

You could try taping the new cable to the old (go overkill on the tape) and pull the old cable out, which "should" pull the new stuff through.

An alternative, you can try (but no guarantee it will do the job), is to put tin foil over the wall behind the tv and hope that shields it.

If you have a t.v socket at the back of the t.v
You could use it .Disconnect the cable in the loft
And run a new satellite cable from the l.n.b into the loft and connect to the cable .

Great suggestions, thanks!

I have just tried the tinfoil technique and it seems to be working! Interference still happens when I move closer to the TV but from couch distance works great 👌🏼
I think you’re right, I will have to replace the cable eventually, but as a temp fix, it’s perfect.

Cheers

You could run a temporary cable from the l.n.b
To the t.v . If all the channels are fine .Then it is
A cable replacement

Most tvs you buy are freeview that you plug an aerial into the rear and scan for channels. It was an option if sat cable is bad as using a different source.

Ah ok, I’ll take a look into this!

Cheers
