Sat newbie looking to go motorised

paul5421

Newbie
I am new to this and looking for a reasonable motorised sat system, below are some of the points I have been pndering

  1. Can I run on my old sky dish
  2. Will my open box work
  3. Can I mount to my house
  4. Located in the depths of North Scotland..any probs
  5. Is it possible to do DIY
  6. What is the best box to use if the one above is pants.

No doubt you will have answered similar questions, so link to where I can get the info in the simplest of languages would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Paul.

What are you looking to achieve with motorised setup?

Openbox may work ok, but would really consider upgrading if going spend on motorised setup, box upgrade really depends on budget.

1 An 80cm dish will be required in n Scotland for 13 hotbird 19 Astra etc
2 may work but would def upgrade
3 yes, take down old replace with new
4 80cm minimum dish imo
5 motorised can be tricky, you got a satellite meter
6 depends on budget

Got £300/£400 budget if you have that cash and have good Internet speed , I would go iptv no hassle and all the channels you need

Internet protocol tv--still in its infancy and at present not worth the money that people are requesting.
A V8s, 80cm dish with a 0.1db lnb plus a sat motor will and can cost around £75-£120 plus a line and work perfectly on sats from 30w to 42e and very simple to set up--guides available on forum.
