Recording IPTV. Do you have a reliable way to do it.

Has anyone had continued success recording IPTV? I'm not asking for a provider here just whether anyone has got a working setup that's reliable.

I've tried multiple providers and devices and I dunno whether just to give up and accept I can't do it. Closest I got was Sparkle working for a while about 75% of the time but not sure if it's the software or my provider, it's not working properly now.

So with the Buzz first I tried the built in app but that stops recording the second there's a dropped connection I think. So I tried Tivimate and basically the same thing. So Sparkle doesn't do that, it seems to at least try and recover it. I can tell where it lost a connection because if I try to record a 2 hours program, if it worked properly it's 2 hours. If not the hours will be like 1450 or something but sometimes I can still watch it.

Recently though it's just not working at all though I'm wondering if my provided just got worse and that's the reason, nothing changed on my setup.

Someone mentioned catch-up, not an option. It's not always shows but it's mostly shows that are US sports discussion shows. They're not on catch-up, or torrents etc.

I would say but can't guarantee enigma would be better as they have proper in built hardrives.
Willo mentioned and i will second his proof that its possible to record ipee very successful. Word has it he is with another E2 user so if you post proper i am sure the lads will help 👍

Will always let you down at some point regardless of

Oh come on don't have everyone chasing a golden goose or digging up the end of a rainbow.

You may get some good recordings with no problems but eventually it will fail like a pinned condom.

I've had no issues recording but recording is done on windows not on the firestick/shield itself. The recording is sent to a folder watched by Plex and then a different library called TV recordings so I can view it from that.

I use SimpleTV to record. Basically uses Vlc under the hood to record. I set the retries to 5 so sometimes a recording is separated into 2-3 files if there was a skip.

I haven't recorded a lot over the network using tivimate and samba but some people say that works for them.

I would recommend a minimum of two active connections for recording if you plan on watching at the same time. Hope this helps!

Custom recording seem to work better in TM when I have used it.

I've only used it for short recordings and yeah it worked okay but recorded in .ts and over local network or you need to have USB hub and have a hard drive so just use my home server if needed.

Catchup is definitely the most convenient option and pretty sure implayer even has an option download from catchup which can be handy.
