Record from open box direct to HTPC

I have tried searching the site and couldn't see an answer, so I have to to assume I am a bit of a plank for one of the following reasons

a) its on the site already and I can't see it
b) it is so easy that no-one has even needed to ask
c) its impossible

Can anyone suggest the best way to record straight to the HDD on the pc instead on a usb stick.

2 things you could try
1) take a line from the composite video/ analogue audio outputs to a video capture card on the pc
2) Use a proper hard drive (formatted NTFS for openbox) and plug into computer for playback, openbox for recording.
It might even be possible to get a NAS drive with a usb input that could then be shared with pc. But I have not tried this.
