Pia VPN not very good

Hello

Anyone noticed that pia VPN seems to not work as well as others.

Didn't work on tod app very well for me

Worked on YouTube to stop the adverts connected to Albania for a day then stopped.

Started to wonder if it's actually doing its job at all.

Is there a better one

I have used it for years but I only use it for iptv and torrents and it works as it should for me.
But companies are getting wise to people using VPN’s for geo locked official apps and the more popular ones are probably being black listed because lots of people using the same ip and ports provided by the VPN provider.
The lesser known VPN’s with less users probably don’t get flagged as much.
User DN4538 gives their take on it here

It depends on the rules of the app owner whether they allow the use of VPN or not.😌
I am talking about official streaming apps that will want to geo lock their service so users from different countries so they can’t use the service or get a cheaper service by using a VPN and not paying a higher price for a service in their own country.

Yes I've noticed it too, I rarely use it but it's 50/50 if it'll work.

For getting around blocks I've had success by deploying my own personal vpn. Lots of guides and definitely not as cheap as many of the normal options if you plan on using a lot of data but won't have any blocks and you'll get the full bandwidth.

Think of a regular vpn as a muti lane motorway and they keep adding more cars and the entire server bandwidth is used by all the number of people connected to that server. This one is your own dedicated single lane since no one else can connect to it. Also since it's not part of the shared IP pool it isn't flagged as a vpn as often.

Seen a few providers selling there own Vpns now and there cheap as chips. Some are doing 12 month for £25 and people are getting 800mb with it connected. May be a option

Got Nord from helix. Only cost £3, its Working on YouTube just sick of adverts ha.

I tested PIA for three days two years ago. At first, I was really impressed by the customer service. They were super helpful and even set up a trial account for me so I could test the service without having to pay upfront. I thought that was a nice gesture.

But when I actually used the service, I was disappointed! Streaming only worked on a few platforms. And then there were the connection issues! Within the first hour, the app just disconnected the VPN. A yellow symbol kept spinning for minutes, showing I was online but completely unprotected. Eventually, it reconnected on its own, even though there wasn’t supposed to be any automatic reconnect.

My download speed dropped to a third when using the Swiss servers.

Conclusion: Stay away from PIA! Services like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or Surfshark are much better.
