Openbox - is there a way to write you own code / scripts for openbox ?

Just wondering how "open" the openbox is.
I did a quick google search looking for information on writing or deploying your own code to openbox, but I'm not seeing anything.
I'd be interested in seeing if I could deploy a small webserver to openbox (I'm assuming it's a linux based OS) that could interface with it in some way, for example so you could log into it from your browser and set up recordings that way...
Anybody looked into anything like this or have any links ?

Not possible, it is custom software and not linux based as far as I am aware. There used to be a standard editing program for the old openboxes but that only allowed you to change background and boot logo.

These boxes are massed produced simplicity [not linux] The manufacturers produce their own firmware so not designed for techy playabouts like us.
