openbox F5S

Hi all you Techno Guys, I have a question for you, I have heard a lot of people talking about these type of boxes.
I at present have a Virgin Tivo Box is there any advantage in getting one of these Openbox F5S, What actually does it do, thanks in advance: Dave

You will need $ky to be honest mate just for the connections if you have had $ky before and still got the connections and the satdish then its ok ive had one for a few months now and i find them good. Sometime they can jolt for a second but if your internet is good then you should be fine. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the info, I have hade sky previous to going to Virgin so all cables and Dish still in tact.
is it possible to record with one of theses boxes, do you have to plug in an external HDD to record.
I have just been reading a lot of the posts and some post mention losing the HD channels, the gist seems to me the changing from HD to SD is this so.
And if this is the case then is there another box that I would be better buying that will cope with the change over, Thanks: Dave

if you have virgin already fitted then go for a virgin box like the q5 gigablue or amiko as it still offers hd.

but the openbox/skybox and cloud ibox are good little boxes and you do receive some HD channels like bt sports 1 and 2 espn etc but not things like sky sports HD.

most boxes if not all need a hdd plugged it to record.

if you looking for a box that records 1 channel while watching another then the vu + duo or cloud ibox 4 are great boxes a tad more expensive but well worth the money and auto updates the 7 day epg.

if your looking for a box to just record one channel at a time and cheap then the skybox f5s or openbox v5s v8s s9 s10 all great little box however you would need to update your 7 day epg every other week if not every week.

or you could go with a cloud ibox 2 + 3 or 4 and you get access to on demand latest movies with the right plugins and the 7 day epg auto updates and looks like the official sky guide.

the only way you would get HD on a sat box is to get a box that supports iptv and still you would need an iptv package at an extra cost.

Thanks Webby 06, so if I get this one the Cloud Ibox 3HD I will be able to record 1 channel and watch another, does this one need external HDD: Dave

I myself would go for a gigablue quad plus does the same as tivo box with sat and cable X2 tuners for each hd is no longer on sat but still on cable costs a bit more but worth it in the long run.

I got the openboz v5s, still trying to get working with unscrambled channels to work? I know I need a TP_PROG.dbs file but is that it? I'm still struggling to get this. Can anyone help?

So does that mean that the Gigablue Quad Plus has its own internal HDD, as the wife doesn't fancy an external HDD hanging around the back, more boxes than know what to do with LOL: Dave
