Openbox - am I right in thinking this is how it works?

I'm a complete novice so please be kind.

im fed up with our current freesat box so sat down tonight and had a trawl through an auction site which is where I found the openbox.

I just have a few questions.

Connect an external USB drive to record TV programmes?

record one channel and watch another?

obtain freeview as I normally would. Free?

how expensive is it roughly to then have all sky channels roughly?

will it work on my standard sky dish?

is it fairly easy to set up and is it stable?

apologies for all the questions. The other half will kill me if I buy another box that doesn't work. I'm based in the uk if it makes any difference?

oh. And what box is the best one to go for?

With ref to your questions The openbox v5s is a single tuner and yes you can record onto a usb But you cant watch and record another at the same time/ you need a Dual tuner to do both They will work with your sky dish, The openbox v5s is a basic box and easy to set up and inexpensive if you start off with 1 then see how it goes then go for a dual tuner My advice do not buy 1 with gift on fleabay buy them seperate and avoid cloned boxes

record one channel and watch another? No not with a V5s only single tuner so can only record the channel what is on. Need twin tuner for that start around £140 mark

obtain freeview as I normally would. Free? Yes and Freeview HD channels

how expensive is it roughly to then have all sky channels roughly? Start around £40 to £100 per year But no sky HD channels no longer for now may change.

oh. And what box is the best one to go for? Depends on what you can afford, but twin tuner better, Miraclebox Mini twin S2 unit £149. openbox and skybox are basic about £50. you only get what you pay for.

That's fantastic. I will get one on order and see how I go. I think I will see what it's like and then look to order a two channel recorder. Really appreciate all the help.
