New year's honours list

It would appear there is a valid reason for Sinfield’s omission.

It was speculated last year that Whitehall sources told the national media that any recipient of an honour cannot have it upgraded within a three-year period.

That would appear to fit with Sinfield’s own personal timeline for his honours. He was first given an MBE in 2014 for services to rugby league, and then in 2021, was awarded an OBE for services to rugby league and charitable fundraising.
Then in the 2024 New Year’s Honours, that was upgraded to a CBE

I believe it is because there needs to be a two year gap between awards : He was awarded a CBE in 2024 : Maybe next year...
Did you read my earlier reply?

I don't know why wrongly convicted sub post masters etc have been honoured.
They've not actually achieved anything, yes they were mistreated and later exonerated but does that really count as outstanding?
It kind of makes a mockery of the honours system, people getting awards just to placate them and keep them quiet

People involved in the Post Office scandal have been honored, including

Lee Castleton, Seema Misra, Chris Head, and Jo Hamilton
In the 2024 New Year Honours List, these former subpostmasters and campaigners were awarded OBEs for their work on the scandal.

Rebecca Thomson
The former Computer Weekly reporter who first exposed the scandal in 2009 was also awarded an OBE.

Noel Thomas
The former subpostmaster was awarded an honorary degree by Bangor University for his campaigning for justice.

Sir Alan Bates
The Post Office campaigner and founder of the Justice for Sub-postmasters Alliance (JSFA) was knighted earlier in 2024.

Anyone who has been wrongly convicted of something is going to make a noise about it and demand compensation.

It's hardly worth an OBE or a knighthood.

They did it for themselves, with the possible exception of the computer magazine journo
