New LG OLED TVs - no MLA?

LG's latest OLED TVs have been announced with some interesting changes. They've improved brightness and added new gaming features, as expected. However, the big news is that they're dropping the Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology. Instead, they're using a new "Brightness Booster Ultimate" tech to make the screens brighter. It's interesting that they're pivoting in this direction, but hopefully the results speak for themselves.

Are any of you using LG OLEDs like me? What would it take to get you to upgrade?

I've got a c9 which is around 4 years old and i still feel like the picture is amazing, if I ever upgrade any of the other TVs in the house then they'd be oled too because the picture improvement is massive.

I got an LG CX about 3/4 years ago and love it. Like @browney I can't see me upgrading it for at least another 3/4 years becuase it's so good. I would need to see a generational technology jump before I would be thinking it's time to upgrade. So far I think the changes have been incremental. It's a bit like smartphones. They release a new model every year, but you would only see a big improvement if you upgraded a smartphone after 4/5 years.

I have the G4 and the brightness compared to the LG Oled TVS without MLA technology was noticeable when I viewed them Richer Sounds.
My old Oled was around 600-700 nits the LG G4 is 1400 nits
I was buying a new TV and that’s what swayed me to buy the G4.
Also the image looks great in a well lit room during the day because of the extra peak brightness.
The upscaling is also great.
I will be curious to see the peak brightness on the new LG Oled’s with Brightness Booster Ultimate.

Same - 5 year old Panasonic OLED which still looks in my opinion incredible, more so when I have been round friends & relatives houses, still get the odd compliment on it now especially with Sky Sports UHD. Another family member brought a Sony OLED last year, that was seriously impressive also

I think I'm in the same boat. The improvement would need to be a generational leap for me to upgrade without a separate factor contributing. Eventually, the incremental changes that we've been getting may cumulatively represent enough of an improvement to convince me.

LG has published a press release containing some more information on their new panels: LG Display Unveils 4th-Generation OLED Panel Optimized for AI Era - LG Display Newsroom

Specifically:
The new panel’s innovation centers on a Primary RGB Tandem structure, which is LG Display’s proprietary technology that uses independent stacks of RGB elements to produce light. It had previously used a three stack light source, with two layers of blue elements emitting relatively short energy wavelengths alongside red, green, and yellow elements in a single layer.

The Primary RGB Tandem structure applied to the fourth-generation OLED TV panel organizes the light source into four stacks by adding two layers of blue elements and independent layers of red and green elements. It improves maximum brightness by increasing the amount of light produced by each layer compared to the previous structure.

Higher peak brightness also enhances colour contrast and the colours look more vibrant.
Also with viewing dark scenes you can actually see more detail.
I can definitely see the difference comparing my old Oled tv to my new one.
Also some people have well lit rooms and you need a tv with a high peak brightness for a decent viewing experience.
