Motorised Satellite System Setup

Motorised Satellite System Setup

I am installing a Triax 80 elliptical dish with a dish offset angle of 26 degrees
I have mounted the Technomate TM-2300M3 motor, pointed this to South onto a fixed pole and have set the my Latitude on the motor to 51 degrees.
The Triax dish is elliptical with an offset of 26 degrees
Question? Do I now set the dish bracket to 17 degrees?
Calculation: Take my latitude away from 60, which is 60 - 51 (Lat) = 9
then, 26 - 9 = 17 degrees on the bracket of the the dish.
(I do not understand why I have to use the 60 in the calculation?)

Hopefully, with the above I would locate Thor at 0.8 degrees and this should be more or less spot on? Then, I should be able to tell the motor to go to East and West satellites on the Clarke Belt, these also should be more or less spot on. Any further help is much appreciated.

If I have done the calculation wrong then please let me know what the steps are.

Thank you

* according to my Technomate instructions: Set the Declination Angle by the scale on the antenna dish. The reading on the dDish scale should be: 30 -DECLINATION ANGLE

The Elevation and Declination Angle Table reads…

Your Site Latitude 51
Elevation Angle 39
Declination Angle 7.4
Dish Bracket Angle 22.6

Confused? So, 30 - 7.4 = 22.6
Should my dish bracket be set at 22.6?

Thanks again

I'm not sure what your numbers even mean.

The manual for your motor should tell you what declination (I think its that or may be something else, I can't remember now) to set the motor on, based on your location.
Then:
Connect motor to receiver.
Send motor to Thor.
Move the motor and dish together so that it is pointing at thor. Adjust the dish's elevation etc. to peak the signal.
Job done.

I cannot remember exactly as when i sent a new dish up each time i look on the next for information. I would have thought to set your moto up to the same as your lattitude ie 51 deg. I would then set the dish around 29deg this should be almost vertical. It should look the same angle as the other sky dishes around you. If its pointing at the floor or way up in the air its wrong.

No apparently there is no manual with the technomate but in the olden days you would get a handy reference sheet and all you did was get your latiitude and read the grid, motor elevation and dish elevation. Later motors had elevation on one side and latitude on the other to make it easier still.

The best method is use dishpointer.com. on left hand column piut in your lat and long, then scroll acroos to right select motorized and use the sg1000 motek press search, scroll down and you will see the settings

Here's the TM2600 manual basically same thing.

Yes
On your motor bracket one side has latitude the other elevation set this to 51 and 39
The angle of your dish is set to 22.6 approx

If it's all plumb 90° the pole to begin with then the dish and motor centred plumb on the pole. Put motor to zero if it's not already.
Tighten up nuts diagonally top left to bottom right and visa Versa on the other two. Just enough to allow you to twist the whole rig left right.
Send it to 0.8w and peak a V and H channel moving while rig slightly left or right , also see if tilting the dish down or up slightly gives you a better SNR.
Then the same on 30w and 39e

If using usals any sat will be ok to set up on, 1w was always used in the day's of diseqc only..

There is also a correct error of + or - 1 degrees
Which means you might have to make a slight
Adjustment on the motor bracket when all other
Settings are correct .It will help the signal quality
on all the transponders
