motor setup after 20 plus years

Hi all! just about to start a motor setup up tomorrow .. did one about 20 years ago .can i ask if this sounds about right?#

1. use dishpointer to find elavation and use that on both motor and dish
2. find 0.8 (any ideas of best freq ?to use)
3 set up on viaark useing diseqc 1.2 and store sats

Say a bit more make and model of motor, model of viark box, size of dish and lnb. It’s changed since 20 years, you use Usals but motor and receiver must support it. You have 2 markings on motor latitude and elevation. It won’t be same as dish. Al Jazeera and gospel channel on 0.8w but with usals you can use any sat.

With dish pointer you select motorised and use motor sg2100 scroll down and you get the lot usals, motor and dish

1w was only really needed to set up on in times of diseqc, now days if using usals any sat will do and just fine tune after if required.

Under usuals you can setup on any sat.

I use 28 east to get dish in the zone then ill send it to 0.8w and do all the fine tuning

so i can set up on 28east and run it from there .. sorry for being a pain


Motor Latitude: 51.7°------ on motor
Declination Angle: 7.4°
Dish Elevation: 23°---- on dish

and set Latitude: 51.7385°
Longitude: -3.0678° on viark

I agree yes that looks ok , but if your going to in the end send it to 0.8 for fine tuning why not start on 0.8w . What's your strongest sat due south . Better experts than me on here though

ok ill have a crack at it this morning as got a day off ... had 16east for years but that storm moved dish .... so thort may aswell go balls deep in this

28e is a stronger sat and usually easier to find, when setup on that your dish should find 0.8w without stress. Then do the fine tuning.

Minus figure Longitude: -3.0678 is a West setting on the Viark !

Just a tip have the motor at 0 and pointing due south, so at midday you would be facing the sun, then select 0.8w or 28e but then you have to turn the whole rig until you get a good signal. BUT everything has to be plumb, are you using t&k brackets?

Lmao gave up to cold for this …. Put 16east back on .. it’s only for footy any days … 😌😌😌 is 70% quality for 16east on 80cm dish in south wales??
