GrogBuild Latest ABM Stand Alone ipks

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of help if possible. I'm running Grogbuild on my Octagon SF8008 and seem to be losing more and more Freesat channels by the day.

I've had a look on here and it looks like potentially ipks need to be updated??? I know Grogbuild is no longer really supported but I've basically got everything set up the way I want at the moment. Is there a simple way of updating the ipks? Also, is there a latest version kicking around for my box?

Thanks for any help.

ABM doesn't support ATV 6.4 any more so can't be updated on your box as it is, you need to update to a newer ATV 7.x which means you can't install Grogbuild

I don't know why people are reluctant to come away from openatv 6.4
Nothing works in it anymore.
Openatv 7.2/3/4 etc work flawlessly, you can add skins, etc, all the plugins work as they should and it's not constantly crashing.

If you have unused slots on the box, flash openatv 7.4 to it and set it up with your tuners/lines etc and I can guarantee you won't boot the box into 6.4 again

I think a lot of users have only ever used a build and don't realise actually it's not that difficult to DIY.

Thanks Grog
If setting up from scratch is a worry for you then you could look at willobuild by @Willo3092 . It uses OpenVix rather than ATV and things like skins and menu's may be different to what you are used to but it won't take long to get used to.

Installed Open ATV 7.4 on a spare partition and all set up for Freesat. All working fine except I don't get anything showing on STV HD and all ITV HD channels (2,3,4). Region is set to BBC Scotland/STV Scot (Glasgow).

I've selected update provider files but it says it doesn't need updating. Any ideas? Thanks

If it finds them but they dont work, check that you have signal on that transponder. If you don't, it is a hardware/alignment issue. With an updated satellites xml, a single satellite scan should get you roughly 725(edited) channels.

ITV 1 HD channels are currently on the following transponders

11344 MHz, Horizontal, 27500 , 2/3, DVB S2
12168 MHz, Vertical, 27500, 2/3, DVB S2
11386 MHz, Vertical, 27500 , 2/3, DVB S2
12363 MHz, Vertical, 27500, 2/3, DVB S2
11226 MHz, Horizontal, 27500 , 2/3, DVB S2

Thanks for this. I've just done a manual scan on all of these (last one didn't appear in my list). Got STV HD and ITV HD to load up but nothing else. Not even sure how to get those channels found into my EPG?

Also not sure why ITV2,3,4 didn't appear?

Thanks again

Please identify and fix the actual problem instead of working around it. Only use work-arounds if you can't fix the problem.

Please perform a single satellite scan and report back with how many channels you find. This will give a better picture of what you can receive. Do not use ABM. Please post a screenshot of the scanning options you have used if you want us to double check. Reason being, from past experience, people scan only one transponder instead of the whole satellite. If you have more than one tuner, scan on all tuners. I am sure you have an alignment issue, faulty LNB, PSU or other hardware issue.

You should not manually modify ABM bouquets otherwise it will get undone next time ABM runs. I am sure you meant bouquet instead of EPG. If you are determined to move channels into different bouquets...
Stay off the EPG button on your remote, use the channel selection method, when you highlight a channel and press menu, you will get options to copy, move, remove channels.

Done this earlier but only just getting a chance to reply now, apologies. Scanned both tuner A and B. B found slightly more channels.

Strangely just plugged in an old H2S box running WB and I can watch ITV 2,3,4 and STV on it. Surely points to LNB etc being ok?

Thanks

If you rescan on that old WB h2s box those channels will stop working.

You are missing over 120 channels (assuming your satellites.xml file is up-to-date. ABM reads SI tables, and does not use that XML file). To me, there is a minor alignment or other hardware issue. Could even be the PSU.

The tuners have differences in sensitivity so may account for why one receiver finds them and the other doesn't. Using the Zgemma, please post a screenshot of signal finder with one of the troublesome transponders selected.

Looks like you could be right, see screenshot from old H2S.

You should change dvb-s to DVB-S2 as that is the new standard. use kingofsat to find the correct paramets. A lot of channels are moving from the DVB-S to S2. Hence old sky digoboxes that were dvb-s only are obsolete. a lot of channels have changed. Change 11386 to dvb-s2 and pause, you just put cursor on system and press right arrow.

To get all FTA channels i use SKY UK and ignore Freesat.

Using user defined parameters is prone to errors, the inversion in that picture is wrong too. You are better off using predefined transponder. If it is not listed, it's because the XML file does not have it.
