Italy 793 deaths in one day!

Italy has recorded 793 new deaths from coronavirus in one day, adding 6,557 new cases have been detected.

Despite extensive measures to prevent the disease from spreading, Italy remains the worst affected country in Europe.

The figures represent the highest day-to-day rise in the number of deaths. It brings the totaly number of deaths to more than 4,500, whilst the number of cases is believed to be in excess of 53,000.

The country's health system is faltering under the pressure of the cases.

In Bergamo, the Italian epicentre, cemeteries were overwhelmed. Video from inside the city’s main hospital showed patients lined up in a narrow ward, struggling for breath as doctors and nurses moved from one beeping machine to the next.

Its really sad whats happening over there. It is clear health care is really struggling with all the cases.

Seems main blame is being put on government for acting too late in Italy for implementing measures.

If people follow advice and if there is a complete lockdown maybe virus wouldnt spread as quick.

Italy has been in lock down for 9 days now I think.....so everyone spreading from house to house. That's the only way it can be and the numbers from HiTeck should hit home with everyone/ this will be highlighted again on the likes of Sky News and imho it is coming big style. Pretty frightening tbh!

Alot of people seem to think that this is nothing to be worried about and living normally. Whether thats going out to shops or socialising with people.

I think some would really appreciate the gravity of the situation until its too late.

I really really hope people start thinking and using their brains and follow advice they have been given and NOT to their own thing because they feel like doing so.

I would suggest that those numbers posted by HiTeck would make it very clear.

Not nice to say but just shows even in lockdown it's still a killer but R.I.P all victims of this deadly disease all round the world and everyone on forum stay safe and follow the guidelines

Was due to bring my mother down today, she called saying can't make it. Terrible cough and sore throat and hes been at the bingo all week lol
Now I can't go near her for 7 days at least nor can anyone really as we don't know whether it is or it isn't
This is the problem with not testing and being told to stay home and do feck all

But best to be cautious and just stay in isolation.

As 7 days or 14 days whatever the period is may seem a chore but can be life saving.

The problem is with Italy they did not realise it was amongst the country till very late.

There culture is to kiss each other when they meet which obviously doesn't help.

They have also go a much older demographic compared to the rest of europe.

The figures don't make a lot of sense really
Spain and USA have both had 25,000 cases
Spain has had 1,378 deaths
USA has had 296
Germany has had 22,000 cases and 84 deaths whereas UK has had three times as many deaths, 234 from 5,000 cases

There maybe more deaths but not confirmed and that's why we are seeing big spikes of confirmed deaths.

Edit we may have more unconfirmed cases aswel so 5,000 could be 10,000

Could be because of age of population, resources they have in these countries. Could be alot of factors as to why death rate is higher in some countries than others.

Look at Iran I think they must be among the higjest

Not seen any spikes from Iran recently even though they do have high death rate.

Italy is the worst affected country in the world.

Makes you think how bad could it be in the UK.
