If buying these boxes from the forum sponsor, could someone please tell me what image/build it comes with as standard? Many thanks.

Normally they dont come with any image (unless stated) and you will need do it yourself zgemma website have the images that are suitable for box they are very easy to flash etc

They come preflashed with Openatv V5.3 at present and default skin..

Does anyone know if these boxes can support a 5ghz wifi dongle in the usb port? Currently my usb wifi dongle works but it only has capability for 2.4 ghz. Works well but soon as i connect a laptop i cant use openwebif as laptop is on ethernet and that only uses 5ghz

Not correct! Ethernet does not use any wireless frequency as it is wired.Sounds more like you are created a separate network with a different IP range.
