horizontal and vertical channels

Im not very tech savvy (sorry) but could anyone explain how to get both the horizontal and the vertical channels unscrambled as I've only ever managed to get one type to unscramble with a cline and the nline i had a gift for never worked on anything?

If the signal quality is low your l.n.b could be faulty As it's unable to switch between the v and h on the tp list

Is that on the actual satellite dish outside?

yeah thats the bit on the end of the arm on the dish

I would try another test line to make sure it is that before you get the lnb changed

Do you pick up all the free to air channels ok?

Check the s.n.r on the channels by selecting scrambled channel the s.n.r reading should be at the bottom right hand side of the screen

Yes the fta channels are there and I received a test on discovery history which worked fine so I presume I'm ok to go about getting a cline or ccCam now and hopefully unscramble some if not all of them. the last gift i bought from eBay was an n line and it didn't work at all

A test on dicovery history, never heard of such a test
All lines give or take a little should unlock all SD premium channels not just 1 or a few unless of course there is a problem with your setup
You are much better off taking your chances here rather than buying from ebay,

Sounds to me like your having issues with unscrambling of channels as opposed to a signal strength issue that your post eludes to. Have you checked your cams are active ? You could ask a friend to check your gift lines in their box to see if they work on their setup.

I haven't managed to get a gift that works yet but a server sent a test line that worked they said it would only work on discovery history, which it did, so i presume if I find a gift line that works then some if not all channel will unscramble? Im just thinking ahead as when i had a c line gift certain channels like dave and others didn't work. I wasn't sure if its a fault at my end or if i had to buy gift for vertical channels and separate gift for horizontal channels. Sorry to be vague I'm trying to get my head around it all not having any technical knowledge. I just watch youtube videos on openbox to try and understand some stuff

Would ring alarm bells if it'll only open that one channel. All channels bar the ones that have gone dark should clear even on a test.

Ive since tried a test line from two other people and they've all unscrambled except the odd few so I think you're right, alarm bells are ringing. Thanks, I'm getting the gist I think
