GB News to start broadcasting

Just been announced that the new news channel, GB News is to start broadcasting on 31st May 2021.

I'm looking forward, especially since its been reported that it intends to be more pro British, which for me will give me an option to watch live broadcast news again,
since I've long since stopped watching anti-British, far left leaning BBC, Sky, ITV C4 news offerings that are more concerned about pushing their own political agenda than
actually reporting news.

Here's hoping we'll have an option so as to cater for all political tastes.

How likely will it be it wont cater to political agendas like the other news channels and actually report fair and unbias news :unsure: ....Unlikely
 

What is GB News?​

GB News is chaired by ex-BBC Daily Politics presenter Andrew Neil, who has said it will resemble American broadcasters, by not following a rolling news format.


He said: “It will be based more like MSNBC in America, which is on the left, and Fox [News], which is on the right.

“They don’t do rolling news. They do news when it breaks, but they don’t do continuous rolling news.”

He added: “They segment the day into individual programmes, news-based programmes, built around very strong presenters, or anchors as they call them in the United States, and that is what we will do too.

“[GB News will have] Anchors with a bit of edge, a bit of attitude, bit of personality – and people will make an appointment to view them. That’s the plan.”

The channel’s director of news, John McAndrew, who has previously worked for the BBC, Sky News, ITN, and NBC, said on Twitter that the channel will be “free, fair, impartial” and “Ofcom regulated”.

Once up and running, the channel plans to air 6,500 hours of television a year.

Interesting.

"impartial" is very interesting as I dont get that with news being reported on the news channels.

Maybe this will break the mold. Remains to be seen.

Well she and the other one forgot her name but she is originally from Kenya I believe. I can see why they maybe a good distraction :sneaky:
 
It would be great if they got some guest presenters on when they are available who would be along the lines of Nigel Farage and Katie Hopkins, to give the majority view of the UK population and not just that of the looney lefties, the woke and the easily offended on behalf of others.
 
I think those that are jumping on the "This is going to be some far-right mouthpiece like Fox News" bandwagon are being a tad shortsighted. I've been a fan of Andrew Neil's late night This Week show on BBC and Daily politics for years. Yes Neil used to work for Murdoch, yes he's Chariman of the Spectator, yes he used to work for Murcdoch and was editor for The Sunday Times, but one thing he's always done best is hold both sides of the political aisle to account. I think GB News will cover the full spectrum of political views, it'll have lefty presenters and righty presenters, It'll be more LBC and less Fox News IMO.

What I don't get is that many on the left are getting so upset that it will likely have some views they disagree with...so what... There will also be people you DO agree with given equal airtime as per Ofcom rules.

I'm very much a centre right type. I still love the BBC, but very much looking forward to GB News.
