Elderly people hearing television

I've made an observation. My mother can hear the TV downstairs better than the portable upstairs. So i thought it must be to do with the speakers upstairs not delivering enough bass (low frequency's)
As you age, a lot can't hear higher the frequency's.

What i did was turn down the treble to as low as possible, and turn the bass up as high.

She said it's much better now 👍🏻🙂

Thank you for the advice. Personally, your 10yrs too late for my mom/dad but I hope someone else benefits
