Cooker Knobs

So one of the cooker knobs fell off as its an old cooker, I found a replacement set on fleabay and bought them.

Unfortunately I didn't line the new knob up with the off position and while the gas is off the knob is in the 2 o'clock position.

The plastic insert inside the knob won't budge to take it back out and I don't want to put pressure on it, would a squirt of wd40 help release it or is there another way?

Have you tried wiggling it off personally wouldn’t use wd40 just try applying a bit of pressure not excessive or even molgrips

You got spares so can wreck it if you need to . Put some elastic bands around the knob to give you some grip , hold on to the knob while getting some pliers on the insert . If that fails , saw off the insert near the knob then drill some small holes into the insert to weaken it.

Done the same with a flannel to get mine off. Works well.

You could switch gas on and leave lit fag over other side of room i bet it would come off then

No it's not the issue at all, the plastic insert inside the cooker knob won't come out.

correct It's not a stuck oven knob, it's the plastic insert inside the knob thats jammed in.

Probably have to wrap a small rag around the insert if possible and get some mole grips on it and wrap something around the knob itself to be able to pull in other direction.
Another way maybe get a small cup of crushed ice and insert the knob insert part into the ice and hope it may shrink a little to be able to pull it free 🤔🤔🤔🤔
