Asus new install has changed

Laptop got an upgrade with ssd drive and windows 10 but symbols have changed when i press them like in an email i get this " when i want this@ ?
any ideas

click on windows start and search programs and files for key it should come up with options probably keyboard settings or keymap hope it is not wrong version of windows

In the Windows Settings change Location to UK and Language to UK English.

Thinking it might have had USA version previously , hmm looked last night and now and cannot see a choice in there .

You should see my lads gaming keyboard,
It's got Danish characters and layout on it,
I wasn't in the right thinking mindset when I bought it for him
