Are My Cables Set Up Correctly Please??

Apeman

Newbie
Hi, I've been a member for sometime, but I'm by no means as clued up as most of you here when it comes to these digital receivers.
Bangord is my main man and been an absolute star and right now we're struggling with my initial set up.
I have the VM splitter and an attenuator in the back of my Router - internet appears to be working fine. P.s: Do I keep the Attenuator in the back of the router regardless?

This is where I'm struggling at the moment - I can't remember how I had my Xtrend set up in the living room.
I recall having another Splitter that linked to my router AND my Xtrend box.
This is where it gets complicated (for me anyway) - I now require to Cable feeds: 1 for my Xtrend and another for my new mutant HD51 box.
I believe I have the correct Splitter in order to feed TWO Receivers?
My Spliiter.Feed to Kitchen TV & Snug TV.jpg
This is my take and please tell me if I'm wrong:
1- Cable Feed from outside comes into house and into that top splitter (Black Cable with Gold end).
2- Do I then unscrew cable from attenuator (keeping that in the back of the router) and connect that to the 'IN' on my additional splitter?
3- Cable from a 7db into Attenuator that's still on the router?
4- Cable from Mutant into a 7db?
5- Cable from Xtrend into the last 3.5db?
Please can someone point me in the right direction....
Thank you in advance :)

First pic is not a splitter, its an isolator,
As your slitter is dropping your signal by 7db to router I'd try without attenuator first, what size is attenuator anyway,?

Thank you for your reply :)
I believe it's 6db..... :/
I did actually think of doing away with it tbh and certainly no harm in trying.... :(y):

Do away with the attenuator.

Take your feed in (black cable with gold end) screw it on to the IN on your 3 way splitter.

7 DB link to Xtrend
7 DB link to Mutant
3.5 DB link to Router

Try that.

You’ll get more viewers posting in the cable sub forum. This is for painting, decorating, plumbing and the like.

Doh! Still trying to find my way around here..... :/

Excellent! Will try that when I get home.
So are you saying I can do away with that Isolator completely and replace it with my Splitter; as I thought I need to come off that Isolator (supplied by VM) then using another cable going into the IN on my splitter.
However, if I can get rid and just go straight into IN on the 3way direct from the splitter that's outside then happy days.... :)

Is there an isolator in the box outside,?
Its a safety function, to keep your internal stuff electrically isolated from their network in case of fault, its similar to how a shaver point works in a bathroom.

Yep, if you are keeping the Isolator,

VM feed into Isolator, Isolator to splitter IN

Then as above.

I have never bothered with them personally and haven't been hit by lightning yet either :grin::grin:

There's definitely something under that small box outside.... i'll take a pic when I get home at 5:30pm if that is an isolator then I can take this other one off. Altho I'm pretty sure I had to fit a splitter in that box outside?! :/

Usually just a splitter in the outside box, they normally isolate inside.

I think that's the case here..... I'm pretty sure it's a splitter.... I remember a Tech Guru telling to fit one in there when I started to get into all this world of satellite malarkey.... FOR MY SINS!!
Fries yer brain I know that much.
I also have a willobuild flash ready to go for all 3 receivers. the Edison OS mini is just for sky (Freeview), but the Xtrend and Mutant will have both sky and cable. Xtrend I can record on.
65" Sony 4k TV recessed in the kitchen wall now our building work is almost complete and I'm SOooooo looking forward to hopefully getting all this set up at the week... Hopefully!

65" tv in the kitchen.....you got bad eyesight m8....lol

lol.... We had an extension built.
it's more of a kitchen, dining and living area.... xbox one X was connected last night... Love it!
We're sat about 6 meters away from it ......

We've done the same thing and moved the 65 incher from the living room into the extension because we spend more time in there now.
I'm also learning what happens in a kitchen.
