Air fryer dangerous ?

We don't use ours very much but reading this mornings news there has been multiple insurance claims for fires caused by these 'must have' food cookers.
We bought bours mainly because of the hype and people around us having one. Some people swear by them others, like my immediate neighbours have gone back to
their old trusted cooking methods.
Any thoughts

I mean given how hot they get and I bet alot of them are caked in grease I'm not surprised.

Ours gets used 3-4 times a week no fires, but its cleaned.

Folk writing this stuff need to go back and see how many chip pan fires there were back in the day.

We've got a ninja 400 and it's really easy to clean (so I've been told!)
Mrs W just drops 1/2 a dishwasher tablet in each drawer with an inch of hot water and puts it on airfry for 15 minutes.
The drawers just rinse out then and you can wipe around the element area with a damp cloth after it's cooled down.

I bet most 'fire fighters' these days have never been to a proper fire and certainly wouldn't be able to carry an adult down a ladder.

Anything electrical can cause a fire. We've saw samsung phones explode, Chargers overheat and melt, hair Straighteners and more. My point is if you don't look after something then there's an added risk of anything going on fire, but alot of time it's down to user error rather than the product itself

They do say to unplug them when finished as some are still powered like the Ninja when you plug it in it peeps.

Be careful if using them on a hob as some went on fire when hob got switched on by accident , power off at cooker switch on wall.

Think i only have done 2 cleanings on my Air Fryer in 20 years but depends in what your cooking in it.

It probably is down to incorrect use. We don't go out and leave 'things' on, eg Tumble dryer or even TV. We are retired and munching out
is nice no washing up or preperation. We have a Ninja 2 drawer it works very well the few times we have used it although it can get quite hot.
I like my chips done in the chip saucepan, now that could become very dangerous.

our daughter has had one for 5 years.

it's never been cleaned.

i don't eat at our daughters.

I should have said basket and base gets dishwasher when needed , the other was the upside down clean for my ring as it was a Philips Air fryer.

As long as its used correctly and cleaned like a normal person, you should have no issues.
