Advise router

Hi all,

I am looking to replace the router with integrated modem from my (German) isp because:
- the router can't use a VPN (only each devise idendently
- rhe router has a very limited range, and I'm getting fed up with the repeaters.

Ideally I would like a router with integrated modem again, but it seems like there are few (mid-high end) devices? Any idea why, or better: any tips on what to get?

Look at the ASUS range that will run Merlin firmware.

Very good at running VPN and your not limited to running every item via VPN you can choose which devices go through the VPN tunnel and which devices that go through you isp/

Yes or alternatively you look at Draytek they will provide the same function with regards to routing your traffic via a VPN

Thanks for the advice, I will probably go with an asus.

However, I noticed rarely any routers also function as a modem. Would you suggest to
- take a modem from my ISP,
- buy my own (separate) modem
- buy one of the few routers with modem functionality

Im sure Asus do modem routers youll need to research that im not on asdl.

Maybe you ISP device can run modem mode only and let the asus do the routing.

what type of broadband do you have? ADSL/VDSL/FTTP/virgin?
