10m Indoor Range Cameras

Hi Guys

I want to set up 5 cameras to view targets on an indoor range.

There's no wifi

Small budget

I want to be able to view the target on my iphone at the standing point which is 10m away from the targets

Is it possible? Are there any bluetooth cameras out there as I'm guessing because there's no wifi I wont be able to connect to them any other way?

Any help assistance is appreciated.

Thanks.

The Bluetooth range on IPhone is about 33ft so just within range at 10m.
Not sure how well the connection will be at that range but there Bluetooth cameras that exceed that range.

I think you should be looking for something like wireless CCTV setup...
Amazon Link Suggestions
The very first one in list says it has range up to 100 feet (about 30M)

EDIT: I see a lot of these seem to involve connecting to router (internet access). I suspect this is needed for remote access. If you don't need remote access, then maybe look at a hard wired CCTV setup and running network cables from base station to cameras (likely cheaper).

I don’t think they have internet at the location but they could run Ethernet cable from each PoE camera.
Not sure how much the OP budget is though.

Thanks everyone. I struggle to understand some things here. So PoE cameras will need to be connected to a PoE switch/router? Is it possible to make my own wifi network, connect each camera to a wifi hub then in turn allow a device either mobile phone or an ipad to connect to the cameras at the standing point. Its basically to view each shot on a static target. I have £150 to set this up £200 max.

You can try Raspberry pi if you are technically inclined and don't want to specific features locked behind a paywall or subscription.

Otherwise you could get a cheaper system like this one, have the ability to return if you don't like how it performs.

There are more reputable systems as well but out of the budget you have set.

Yes you could setup your own WiFi network using a wireless router and connect WiFi enabled cameras to that network or run Ethernet cable from the PoE cameras to base not sure which will be the cheapest.

Ok I have an old wifi router available to me free, so just a case of powering the IP cameras and then set up, what things would I need to set up in the router? Sorry a complete noob here 🫤

So if for instance I use a £10 baby monitor (I know I'm not going to) its wifi, I use that as my camera, connect/discover it on the wifi router? Then connect my ipad to the router find the device via its IP? So IPAD-WIFI ROUTER-WIFI Camera=Image ?? 😮

Couple of things I wanted to clarify with you
  • PoE = Power over ethernet, this will only work on a router/switch that has this feature. It's not common on most cheap units as it's an expensive feature to add.
  • You can use the WiFi router you received to provide you internal networking - everything connected to it will get an IP and be able to communicate with each other, but they MUST be connected via Ethernet or WiFi connection. If you wanted to view a device on this network with the iPad, then it would also need to be joined to this network. Having some basic networking knowledge will certainly make this easier. If you don't have this, then ask a friend or someone to help you with this.
If you plan to view the cameras remotely, then you will need an internet connection. My alternative suggestion is a Camera + DVR solution
